Eight new human H7N9 cases were reported on Tuesday, bringing the total number across the country to 110 this year. Twenty deaths have been reported in January.
Four of the new cases are in east China's Zhejiang province, two of them are in critical condition. One more case was reported in Jiangsu province. The other three people identified are in Guangdong province. Half of all known infections have been in Zhejiang.
Health authorities say there are no signs that the virus is being spread from one person to another, or that a widespread outbreak is likely.
